2026 has been designated the National Year of Reading!
A great way to celebrate and promote reading in schools is through author visits. As a primary school teacher and published writer, I’m delighted to do author visits! I’m flexible and happy to tailor sessions to your aims, but a typical visit looks like this:
Ages: P5, P6 or P7
Duration: 1 hour
Topics: creative writing, the publishing process, Abner
Format: assembly-style talk with PowerPoint, built around interaction, discussion, pupil participation—and plenty of fun!

I don’t charge schools for visits. I simply ask that pupils be given the opportunity to buy the book (at a reduced price). In previous visits, this has been organised through Parent Pay, although other options are possible. All purchased copies are delivered in person and signed.
